Alicia Castillo Rendon of Uvalde peacefully passed away the evening of November 21, 2019 in San Antonio at the age of 68. She was born on November 10, 1951 in Uvalde to Jose Maria Castillo and Socorro Leal.
Alicia married Ruben Antonio Rendon in Hondo on July 1, 1976. Together they had three beautiful children.
Alicia was a teacher and counselor at Uvalde CISD for over 25 years. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafts, and wood working. She was a devoted Catholic and proud member of the Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her charm and smile would enlighten any given moment, just like her love for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years of Uvalde; her mother of Uvalde: sons, Ruben Antonio Rendon, Jr. and wife, Brenda; Jose Roberto “JoJo” Rendon all of Corpus Christi; daughter, Teresa Angelica Rendon and husband, Chet “C.D.” Jones from San Antonio; mother Socorro Leal of Uvalde; sister, Maria Elena Padilla of San Antonio; brother, Roland Castillo and wife, Nora of San Antonio; grandchildren, Ruben Antonio Rendon, III, Sebastian Alexander Rendon, Layla Socorro Rendon, Makai Antonio Jones, Cora Emma Jones, and Marley Deion Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Frances Castillo.
Alicia was a devoted wife, daughter, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will begin on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be held on Monday and Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Roberto Rendon, Jr., Chris Estrada, Dennis Vela, Alberto Cruz, Marco Padilla, Robert Rendon, Richard Rendon, Jr., David Rendon, and Mario Cardona.
